I find that the best way to get in is to be just soft enough that you can bend it in half. If it's harder than that, you'll have trouble and risk breaking a blood vessel, I fear. Don't force the bend - wait until your softer.
I cup my hand with my palm firmly against the base of my shaft and my fingers aligning the head with my ass. Once the head is in position to go in, I ease my fingers back in little steps along the shaft until I am pushing on the bent part of my dick. Once it's in, I relieve presssure and let it slide out a little, then push back on the bend again so I am f-ing myself.
Once you get over the initial excitement of being able to do this, you will be able to control your hard-on more. I can penetrate even when I am almost compeltely flaccid by forcing the blood from the base up to the top of the shaft and head with my finger tips.
