by all means, keep trying!! there was no forum like this when i started, and i nearly gave up thinking it wasn't possible and that i was silly for even trying. then one night i got to where you are at (licked the tip) and figured if *that* was possible, who knows?
i have always gone through phases where i can and cannot reach...and even when i can reach, sometimes i can just lick the tip, while other times i have been able to take over half of myself with relative ease.
some advice? try different positions...most guys seem to do best with the plough (shoulders on floor/bed, body curled up and over so dick is in your face and feet are on ground above your head), but i have always done best with the 'c' (sitting on chair/couch, wrap your arms around your thighs and pull down). you can even vary within those...for example, sometimes i do better by holding behind my knees, while other times it works better pulling with my arms as close to my ass as i can get them.
but the most important advice: don't give up!! as my dad once told me (on a completely different matter!) "you'll never hit a homer if you ain't swingin'!"
