Definitely take a GOOD time to stretch and exercise before even seriously trying. Unless you are gifted? with a 14" spear! At least several months, if you arent particularly flexible to start with.
Me and others have put up a lot of good advice on this board. Much of it was lost recently, tho :-(
The hot bath or shower is a good idea at first. I found however, that if you stay in too long, the body gets weak and that can lead to damage if you are going for the goal.
As i've said in other posts, pay attention to your digestion while youre starting out. See what makes you bloated and what gives you energy then moves right along. Empty bowels are important at the more 'advanced' levels.
