i have a good way to avoid rug burn, i usually do it best in the 'c' position! ;o)
no rug burn, though i do occasionally wind up with some small black-and-blue bruises on the backs of my thighs or my arms if i pull too hard...i do bruise from time to time without knowing how it happened though, so it isn't a big deal to pass it off with an "i have no idea how i managed to do that!" :o)
seriously though, the occasional times i did get the 'plough' to work, i did it on the bed with my feet in the bookshelf headboard, and the matress/sheet gave me no problems.
