Hopefully someone will know the answer to this one......

Is it possible to spread the cold sore virus by SS'ing.... I have a cold sore at the moment and am wary of trying to self suck..... Just in case...

Imagine explaining at the Doc's how you caught herpes.. I ah err gave it to myself Doc.. cough cough....

I know the virus is the same family and cold sores are contagious when active (weeping). I would imagine that although you may not develope genital herpes(?) through active cold sores, you could pass on cold sores to any one following on and giving you a blow job.

After doing a bit of reading, it looks as if you can in fact transmit it to yourself.

What you have is type 1 herpes though, genital herpes is referred to as type 2.

It only takes about a week to heal up, so don't risk it. In the meantime, just do stretches.

I'm a medical doctor. This might be helpfull
Cold sores in the labial region, are most often due to HSV-1 infection (herpes simplex virus) and genital herpes is most comon du to HSV-2.
HSV-1 can thoug easily spread to the genital region and vice versa.
HSV cannot be eliminated by our immunesystem because it "sleeps" in our nerves (for labial herpes in the trigeminal nerve ganglion). When cold sores are active the vesiculae are full of active vira, it's quite common that patients spread these vira to a new area (genitals). The vira then also hides in the genital nerves.
So in short - dont SS when having active HSV infektion
