Yes, one could surely burst a vessel if he tries to do it with a too-rigid cock. Having been doing this for about six months, I've found that I'm able to sort of control how hard I get in anticipation of f-ing myself: not too hard, not too soft. Check out the picks and vids and you will see that your cock should be only slightly erect.
