Hi,
The wmv.001 file can indeed be played by removing the '.001
I believe that is an extension which is in a series of files which are parts of a larger one, so the file sizes are reduced to create smaller clips for the sake of being able to attach them to emails or shorter downloads. .001 would indicate it was the first of the series. The same technique may not work with anything with higher numbers...i.e. .002, .003 etc., since they are designed to be rejoined, reforming the original larger file.
I may be wrong, but removing the .001 works for me.
