just hazarding a guess, but i have heard a few guys say that they can't do it on a bed because it does not give them enough support and they 'sink into the mattress'. having a solid chunk of wood beneath you would certainly eliminate that problem!

never had that problem myself...i enjoy doing it in bed almost as much as i do in my desk chair.

It definitely is beautiful. I understand about the door - is much better leverage for me anyway on more firm surface, especially when I first started. Something that was important when I picked up a new ottoman specifically for this...
