I don't want to sound negative but I'm interested to see if anyone knows anything about this, or has even experienced it (apologies if a bit medical I'm a doctor)
I've been self sucking regularly for several years. Had a few palpitations a couple of years ago sort of ignored them but eventually got checked - 24hr tape and echocardiogram - told just an SVT don't worry. Then in January self sucked one night, and went into fast AFib during the night about an hour later (according to my watch) which lasted 24 hours ended up at hospital - again told not to worry you're a long distance runner probably due to that and your age but referred cardiology. Started also developing chest pains at night and on exercise. Listed for an angiogram but consultant cancelled it saying I'm too fit otherwise, and listed me for exercise test.
Things settled mostly but I didn't dare suck myself again. Went for exercise test which was stopped early due to my BP, consultant said it's fine and discharged me. No more investigations planned. Still having chest pains intermittently told definitely not ischaemic by cardiology after exercise test.
Decided to give it a go again as wife away for few days and have to say best day ever yesterday sucked for 3 hours, total bliss! BUT... woke in middle of last night with fast irregular pulse again. Damn back in fast AF!! Expecting it to last at least most of the day and it's not the most comfortable thing to have. No chest pain though.
I'm 56, long distance runner, very good diet, slim, otherwise healthy.
This really does seem related to self sucking too much like co-incidence it's happened twice in a row. I presume the heart being squished is something it doesn't like? Similar thing can happen in chest trauma.
Any thoughts or experiences similar to this?? Is it definitely the sucking? Nothing is going to stop me I'll put up with the AF if necessary
