yes, but while the vlc player will play many file types that are downloaded to a computer, how do you get it to work when the file is uploaded to this board........in other words, can it be downloaded to save? or can you configure vlc player to get it to play?

To find the download link in the page source code:
Step 1) First look at the box where the video you want to download is or should be playing - see the file name at the top? That's what you'll be searching for; the text you'll look for is the part of the file name that comes before the file type: for example; search for 2001_0101aw340037 rather than 2001_0101aw340037.avi. If you can't see the box at all make sure you're logged in to the forums - if you still can't see the box then you'll need to post a note asking someone else to find the link for you.
Step 2) Now look in your browser's menu bar; probably in the edit or view menu, for something like "view source" or "view page source". This should open up a new window full of incomprehensible text.
Search through that page of source code (you can look in the browser's menu bar again for "find" or "search" and use that to search the page source) for something similar to the name of the file that you took from the top of the box where the video is or should be playing back in Step 1.
You'll find a partial address that looks like this:
files/2001_0101aw340037_276.avi
Step 3) Copy that and then add http://www.solosuck.com/phpbb/ before it so you end up with a complete link like the one that begins this message. Paste that into the address bar of your browser and it should download the clip.
